KTown Youth Pride

Updated: Jun 17, 2021

The KTown Youth Pride council was first established in 2019.

Kingston Pride is a grassroots organization established in 1989 that works to promote awareness and inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community.

What is KTown Youth Pride?

KTown Youth Pride is an organization made of Kingston youth, to support, represent, and plan events, workshops, and presentations for the LGBTQ2S+ youth of Kingston. We have existed since March 2019, and now we are ready to expand our team and recruit some of the amazing LGBTQ2S+ youth in Kingston.

At KTown Youth Pride, we like to have a good time, but our goal is to make safe spaces for the rest of our community so they can have fun too. At our regular meetings we work on planning for upcoming events, assigning tasks which can be individual or with a group depending on the task, and addressing any other business such as individuals reaching out to us, conflicts in the community, advertising, fundraising, and more.

Qualifications:

  • Youth aged 14-24 (high school age or greater) – we will be opening up opportunities for youth aged 12-13 in the Fall!

  • Self-identified member of the LGBTQ+ community.

  • Lives in the Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington area.

  • Organized and responsible.

  • Ability to take initiative while working independently and/or in a team.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Able to attend regular meetings (weekly or biweekly), and our events, workshops, and presentations.

  • Communicates well with others.

  • Bring lots of ideas, no matter how wild, how crazy, how different. Just. Ideas.

  • Be someone who believes in themselves, and believes they can make a difference!
