Volunteer Opportunities

Kingston Pride is a volunteer run organization. Volunteers help deliver the festival for locals and visitors alike. Listed here are known volunteer opportunities in demand categorized by events such as Pride Parade, Community Fair, and Out on the Queen boat cruise.

Pride Parade – June 15



Parade Marshals

Parade Marshals are the backbone of the Pride Parade. They help ensure the parade goes smoothly and safely. Without marshals, there cannot be a Pride Parade. There is mandatory training required prior to parade day.

Parade Dispursers

A key role to help disperse the parade at parade’s end by City Hall. There may be mandatory training required prior to parade day.

Photographer

Photographer to capture photographs for use in future Kingston Pride communications and advertisements.


Parade Musterers

The Parade Musterer is a dedicated volunteer who helps parade participants get to the parade on time and in the correct lineup order of floats and community groups.

Drone Photographer

Kingston Pride is looking for a Drone Photographer to capture images of the Kingston Pride Parade and Community Fair to be used in future Kingston Pride communications and advertisements. You’ll need to be an experienced drone operator with your own drone.

Community Fair – June 15



Community Fair Aid

An aid to help greet people, help the Community Fair participants find their assigned booth locations, answer questions for participants and guests. May also help in conducting surveys with guests, help with final cleanup of park.

Traffic Controllers

Setup blocking off streets using cones and street barricades, directing vehicles to drop off locations to ensure traffic control and parking enforcement. This includes take down afterward.


Stage Hands

To assist with the Community Fair stage. Takes direction for Stage Manager. Requires skills in setup and use of audio equipment.

Photographer

Photographer to capture photographs for use in future Kingston Pride communications and advertisements.

Out on the Queen boat cruise – June 14



Ticket Takers/Sales

A very important role to take tickets and/or payment for tickets. Must be reliable, responsible, and trustworthy. May be required to provide valid government photo identification (if accepting monies). There may be mandatory training required prior to the event.

Photographer

Photographer to capture photographs for use in future Kingston Pride communications and advertisements.


Decorators

Will assist in the very quick installation of decorations on the Island Queen for the Out on the Queen boat cruise. Will also stay after the cruise to clean up decorations. May also assist in setup and takedown of audio and lighting equipment (for onboard entertainment) or board games.
